Equitable Homeownership
We are driven by a deep sense of purpose to make homeownership affordable, responsible and sustainable. We are proud of the role we play in the housing market by helping mortgage-ready borrowers, including historically underserved households, obtain access to affordable mortgage credit, often for first-time homeowners and typically for homes that are below the median home price in the United States.
Breaking Down Barriers to Homeownership
For many aspiring homeowners, the initial downpayment may be an obstacle to buying a home. Recent data reveals that more than 80% of aspiring homeowners cite affording the downpayment as a significant hurdle to becoming homeowners.1
This obstacle disproportionately affects underserved communities, who often face additional financial and systemic barriers. We are committed to providing support and resources that make homeownership more accessible, especially in the Philadelphia region which we have called home for more than 45 years. Advancing Homeownership and Community Development
Collaborating for Change: Since 2023, we have proudly participated in the MBA’s CONVERGENCE Philadelphia initiative, working alongside the Mortgage Bankers Association and local partners to break down barriers to homeownership in our city.
Supporting Affordable Housing with Capital: In 2025, Radian Group Inc. issued a line of credit of up to $1 million to the Philadelphia Accelerator Fund—a Community Development Financial Institution—empowering the production, development, and preservation of affordable housing to benefit low-income communities.
Fueling Community Partnerships: We partnered with the nonprofit Nueva Esperanza to secure $1.35 million in financing from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh’s Affordable Housing Program and Voluntary Housing Grant initiative. This support will help deliver affordable housing units for homebuyers in Philadelphia, making the dream of homeownership more attainable for low- and moderate-income families.
Revitalizing Neighborhoods: In 2024, we empowered Rebuilding Together Philadelphia with a $100,000 grant to help renovate homes—preventing displacement, reducing violence, and helping families build generational wealth.
Supporting Charitable Causes
Strengthening Communities Through Sponsorships: Together with our employees, we continue to invest in both national and local organizations focused on housing, education, and children. Our ongoing, multi-year support includes sponsorship of the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Open Doors Foundation and the Children Scholarship Fund of Philadelphia.
Championing Charitable Giving: Our annual Opens Doors Opens Hearts Fundraiser shines a spotlight on the meaningful impact of the Open Doors Foundation. To date, Radian Group Inc. has committed more than $2 million through fundraising and charitable contributions to support families in need of housing assistance.
